So – about 3 years ago i seen this most awesome piece of furniture at a local boutique here in Utah. I took pics at the time, but ive switched phones a couple times since then and the pics are gone. It had the most awesome painting technique done too it. It looked like layers and layers of old paint, but it wasnt. You could tell that the paint had been layered on using some type of product with some kind of tool – the finish was really textured and had tons of colors in it. And what i loved about the finish, was that it had lots of “lines” in the paint, it wasnt just painted on and then sanded off, the “lines” really made the piece look awesome. So you got that visual in your head!?! I know, i know….i would love to be able to find a [...]
Continue Reading →I just wanted to drop in real quick and let you guys know about this awesome FB book group that i was asked to be a part of about a month ago. The group is called Reclaimologists and Other Crafty Chicks. Its a smaller group of about 15 girls and a couple dudes thrown in that are all in Utah. The FB page is basically an online boutique that only the members are able to post items for sale, but anyone can “like” the page and purchase items (remember though, that everyone listing items for sale are in Utah and not everyone ships). Even if you arent interested in purchasing any of the items, its a great place to go for more furniture inspiration
Click here to like the page. The Reclaimologists are hosting a boutique next weekend – it will be filled with tons of local crafters and you [...]
My dad found me this sweet little bench a couple weeks ago. It was one of those that i loved right away and couldnt wait to get it painted. I loved the lines of the bench and that the paint was already really flaky – flaky finishes are perfect for getting an ultra chippy, distressed, weathered look. I gave it a good sanding with my orbital sander to get all the loose paint off. Then, i skipped the primer since the bench already had a lot of texture and i knew that my paint wood stick. Plus i was going for a highly distressed, chippy paint look anyways – so i didnt need the primer. After giving it one heavy coat of paint, i let it dry and then took my orbital sander to it to give it a heavily distressed finish – my favorite finish of all

I finished up this antique wrap around bed a couple days ago and think it turned out so cute! I would love to have this is in my little girls room, but sadly her bed is a queen and this one is a full. I think its the sweetest bed and would be perfect in a room filled with white furniture and white ruffly bedding filled with vintage pillows – wouldnt it be fun to paint a room full of furniture, add in bedding and decor and then sell it as a whole set….
…………………………….. Anyways, i got this bed a few years ago and worked on it at one point but then got busy with other projects and never finished it up. I finally painted it about a year ago with plans to get it finished, but once again got busy with other painting projects and it sat [...]
Sorry i have been MIA lately… Sometimes i am super motivated to blog and sometimes not so much… Right now, it has been a little of lack of motivation as well as just being busy. There hasnt been one thing in particular keeping me busy, just a bunch of everything. Santi has been out of town a lot lately and normally those are my times to get some projects done, but the last couple times that he has left for a few weeks i have just been taking it easy for the most part. And now that the weather is starting to get better, we have been working like crazy in our yard. I really like yard work so i dont mind that at all
Plus we are doing some fun things in the yard this year and its always more fun to work when you get something awesome at the [...]
Ever since i saw a pic of something similar about 2 years ago, i have wanted to make an embroidery hoop wall somewhere in my house. It was one of those pics that i gasped when i saw it – i loved the idea that much! If you follow me on Facebook, you will know that last week i finally started my little project
(check out my growing collection of old watering cans, cant get enough of those!) I love the mismatched fabrics and the fun colors – plus its unique and you can bring in colors and fabrics that will match your home. And the fabrics can easily be changed out. You could even add in fabrics for different holidays/seasons. I waited for a while before finally doing my wall because i really wanted to hang curtain panels on all the windows on my back wall to soften [...]
Oh guys - if you follow me on Facebook, you will know that i am in deep, deep mourning over my beloved super distressed antique hutch! Seriously – im really sad over this! You see, i had this piece in my house for about 7-8 months or so but i found another piece i liked better for the place i had it in and i just couldnt find another place in my whole entire house to put my blue hutch! After my “Great Clean Out of 2013” – i moved this piece downstairs to the furniture graveyard and thats where its been waiting until i could find somewhere else for it. Sadly…there was nowhere. So it went up for sale @ Reclaimologists and Other Crafty Chicks (where i am one of the contributors and have been listing my furniture for sale) and sold within minutes and i had a line [...]
Continue Reading →You guys miss me? Feels like forever since ive posted…clearly i go in spurts, i will try and be better about posting cuz there is lots going on, just nothing is ever finished! Story of my life
I actually havent really even been on the computer at all this week – i feel like i am missing out! ……………………… When i went to start on this cute little dresser last week, i couldnt quite come up with an idea of how i wanted it refinished. Its super plain and needed something fun to make it unique. So i was putting away some laundry in Kdins room and it hit me that i should try the denim treatment that is on his walls on a piece of furniture – and this dresser would be a perfect candidate. (Old pic w/my old blog name!) I havent showed too much of kdins [...]
About a month ago i got an email from a super sweet reader saying that she was getting rid of this record cabinet and wanted to know if i wanted it – of course! I brought it home to the garage and couldnt decide what i wanted to do with it. Either take the record/radio stuff out and make room for storage as well as maybe making it so the speaker doors could open. If i did it this way, i was thinking that it would be perfect for a media console and someone could hang there TV above it. OR leave it as a radio cabinet and just refinish the outside (the record/radio work!). I posted the “what would you do” question on Facebook and boy did you guys have opinions!!! If i ever want an opinion about anything, FB is the way to get one fast! The verdict [...]
Continue Reading →Oh – you guys, i am SO excited to show you my transformed table! I love it so much and after wanting to make the change for a couple years, am so glad i finally did it! It was a fairly easy re-do with a big impact, i dont know why i waited so long! Anyways – its done now
This is the last pic i took of my table. It was a good decent table that wasnt exactly cheap so i just didnt want to get rid of it, plus i really like the lines of the chairs. But what i hated so much besides it being black, was the table top. It had all these lines in it to mimic wood planks and trying to keep it clean (on top of being black) was a nightmare. Plus the black was so heavy and just didnt flow with [...]
