Over at The Space Between, Karah doesn’t find her rescues on the roadside…she finds them on the oceanside! Karah recently moved from an island in the Caribbean to Key West, Florida, so she has plenty of opportunities to go beach combing. One of her favorite things to collect is driftwood.

Julie blogs at Simple Redesign. When she acquired this piece, she decided that having it continue it’s life as a dresser really wasn’t an option. ”I never really liked the waffle pattern on the top drawers. I originally tried to convince myself that it was kinda cool and different, but in the end, they had to go!” she exclaims.

The side table in this makeover was a true rescue. Shanna explains why at Restoration Redoux, “A girlfriend of mine was throwing out this table and when I went to pick it up I knew why. It was scratched, filthy and weighed about a thousand pounds!”

At Art is Beauty, Karin got a call from her uncle one day, asking if she would like to come get an old Federal style buffet he was clearing out of his basement. ”My hubby and I went over and picked it up,” she tells. “It was funny because as we were picking up the buffet pieces were popping off of it and they were worried. I said, ‘I have saved worse than this!’”

“When our Matilija poppies started flowering I knew I wanted to create some pretty vases to show them off,” explains Nicole of The Felted Fox. ”I used plastic bottles which I fished out of the recycling bin.”

Jessi from Practically Functional says, “I found a really well-constructed pallet in the alley behind our apartment, and knew I had to snatch it up quick before anyone else did!”

“These little tables were rescued on the way home from piano lessons and then sat in my basement for about a year while I tried to figure
out how to re-do them. I almost threw them out until I decided that glam was the way to go!” explains Kim of Reposhture Studio.

Over at Marisa Howard Design, Marisa had an old, beaten up canvas lying around. she decided to use it to inject some extra color into her home.

Tamara of Craft Fabulous has had these two hexagon shaped side tables sitting in her garage all winter. ”The weather here in Kentucky has finally warmed up enough for me to get some furniture painting done,” she explains happily.

Karen from The Weekend Country Girl has a bunk room at her weekend house. A bunk room seemed like the perfect place to decorate with a cowboy-western theme, so she’s been collecting items for that. When she came across an old, beat up dresser, Karen decided to spruce it up for the bunk room.
