Happy Friday to y’all!  And welcome to another Feature Friday.  This week I’m introducing you to Erica, with Designing Vibes.  She is just up the interstate from me in Chattanooga, TN and she has a beautiful blog full of inspiration on fixing up houses.  She and her hubby bought their first house, a brand new Craftsman style, but decided later on that they wanted to cut costs so she could stay home with their 2 boys and they sold that home and bought an 80’s fixer upper which they’ve been working on for the last 2 years. I admire that so much and I know you will love seeing what they’ve done to their house to really update  it and make it beautiful. Erica has a gorgeous Boho style and is colorful and patterned and really enhances their home.  I think you’re going to enjoy this one!  And Erica was just featured in this month’s I Did It column for Better Homes and Gardens for her innovative pendant light shades over her kitchen island, so take note of that.

Welcome to another Feature Friday!  I’m back today with another blogger, Julie Blanner, who blogs at the same name and who has an easy, casual, classic style that I just love. You’ll get lost in her pics and her simple, yet impactful way of decorating her house. She’s not into a lot of stuff, but the things she displays are classic and beautiful.  I love getting back to traditional and classic roots and want to go that direction more myself.  It’s always in style and just feels and looks so good!  Enjoy this beautiful home tour of Julie’s home in the Midwest. She’s been blogging almost as long as I have and she started her own events planning company right out of college, but then parlayed that into her beautiful lifestyle blog, where she shares recipes, simple living, entertaining, and home design ideas.

Summer Home Tour 2017

On June 15, 2017 By

Hi my friends!  I’m joining a talented group of bloggers today sharing our Summer home tour.  If you’re new to my blog, welcome, so happy you dropped by.  I have to confess, I don’t do a lot of things differently for summer, so I’m not sharing a whole lot inside my house for this post.  But I am sharing my explosion of hydrangeas this year since they are putting on quite the show and that is way more interesting and exciting than anything going on inside my house right now.  We’ll peek inside the house, but the show is out here, let me tell ya!

A big thanks to our hostess Marty, with A Stroll Through Life for putting together this wonderful Summer home tour and inviting me to be part of it. Be sure and go over to her blog to see the rest of the week’s bloggers.

I’m really excited to share my new porch plans with y’all today! I got the opportunity this spring to work with some other bloggers on a design challenge for Color Lovers and we would all do an update in our homes. This group loves color and we are not shy when it comes to using color in our homes, so I hope you enjoy this one. We could choose any space we wanted to make over and we’re working with 3 sponsors to get this accomplished, so it was up to all of us to shop for our spaces and choose what we wanted to refresh and update our homes.

It took me a little while to come to the conclusion that it was time to update and improve my screened porch. Duh!! I love that porch and have so enjoyed the hours spent out there, but the loveseat and 2 chairs that started on my old deck in Birmingham that I wrote about in 2010 (7 long years ago!), the ones that came from Big Lots, they really weren’t practical for lounging out there. When I moved in this house almost 5 years ago, of course I used all the furniture I had, adding a few things along the way. And reusing my wicker and my old breakfast table and chairs out there was definitely the way to go. I already had it, it fit my porch and so, there you had it….a screened porch was done. It was comfortable and homey, but I had always longed for something that we could really lounge on. I wanted a porch for napping! When this opportunity came along, I jumped at the chance to get new furniture out there and spruce this space up, making it even more enjoyable for outdoor living.

I know I say this a lot, but you really are in for a treat today! I have a friend here in town, Betsy, who came to my first open house 5 years ago with her mom, Jeanette, and they both live in West Cobb. Betsy has been reading my blog since I lived in Birmingham and recently told me that she came to one of my early yardsales over there before I moved back here (when I did a yardsale with my buddy, Layla, years ago!), so that’s how far back we go. They are just a delightful mother and daughter duo and it was so nice to meet them.

Betsy and I follow each other on Instagram and I’ve seen snippets of her mom’s house and garden on there and I always hinted that I’d love to come over and visit it in person. Jeanette is a Master Gardener and I knew that it would be beautiful and from the glimpse of the stately red brick Colonial home that I saw in Betsy’s posts, I knew I would just eat it up! And so they invited me over recently and I asked if I could photograph it all to share with y’all and Jeanette was gracious to say yes!
