When Deb of Lake Girl Paints spotted this bar cart on sale at the local thrift shop, she immediately knew it would make a great drink cart for her lakeside patio. All it needed was a quick makeover.

“I collect and store things I know can be made into something…someday,” confesses Sara at Thrifty Treasures. ”I had some legs I cut from a chair and an old cutting board that I decided to put together to make something new.”

Courtney of Sweet C’s Designs had some ugly black metal patio furniture that she really didn’t love. ”This ugly furniture was in my “to trash” pile, when I hit up an antique store in Fort Collins and I grabbed some gorgeous aged iron planters that I absolutely adored,” she says. ”I decided I could try to make the furniture match the aged iron.”

At The Thrifty Challenge, Lisa found this painted wooden pig in the “free” piled at a local market. She decided to bring the pig home and give it a new life.

Jess blogs at Bright Green Door. She was delighted recently to find a honeycomb lamp at Target, but when she brought it home, “every lampshade I owned was either too big or too small and I couldn’t find ANYTHING the right size,” Jess confesses.

Over at Crafts a la Mode, Linda was driving along one day when she spotted a pile of free goodies on the side of the road. It was all good stuff, including two folding beach chairs.

Over at Dear Emmeline, Jessica had a kitchen utensil holder that hadn’t been used since she’d attached an Ikea hanging bar to the kitchen wall. ”That left me with a useless stand that either needed to be tossed or repurposed. I chose the later!” she says.

If you like rainbows almost as much as your smart phone, then you are going to looooove this project from Ruth over at Living Well Spending Less. All it takes to get started is something that many crafters already have on hand: a collection of buttons.

Katie of Upcycled Treasures has been eyeing projects that make use of vintage yardsticks for a while, waiting for a chance to make one of her own. When she found a stash of old yardsticks on a recent shopping trip, she decided to combine them with her collection of mason jars to make something unique.

Nicolette blogs at Decorate Decorate. ”I spotted this sweet old school desk in the driveway of a house with a sold sign outside,” she says. ”I knocked on the door and a very sweet woman told me it had been in the garage for years and her children were all grown up now. It was in a bit of a state and I don’t think she could understand why I wanted it!”
